DAVID OBIANYOR
AmbassadorDavid Obianyor, an unconventional teacher who believes that “Regular is boring”, is a Numeracy teacher at Corona Schools Trust Council, with a proven record of giving positive learning experiences to his students as well as building fellow teachers in teaching best practices and 21st century technological advancement. He is the Co- founder of “Teachers Idara and David”.
David is also well known for his contribution to society and along with his co-founder, Idara in 2018, he connected with a teacher from the United States, to work on a project initiated by a volunteer teacher, Obaforehanmi, and this connection led to an international project that birthed a crowd-funding campaign, $843 was raised to refurbish an impoverished school in Nigeria, the fund was used to rebuild the school structure so orphaned children can have a conducive place to learn, some technological devices were also introduced to the school.
David isn’t just a teacher; he is also a mentor to many, students and teachers alike, in recognition of his works in the education sector, he has been decorated with multiple awards which include the Award for ‘The Most Innovative Use of Technology in Teaching and Learning” by Microsoft Nigeria, Corona Primary Schools Information Technology Proficient Teacher of the Year, CEO’S Award for the Person of the Year, Corona Schools. He is the 2018 Teacher of the Year, Corona School, Lekki, and the Corona Primary Schools Model Teacher of the Year. In 2018 he was the Top 4 finalist for the Arclights Foundation Teacher of the Year in Nigeria and in 2017, he was the top 5 finalist at the Meadow Hall Foundation Inspirational Educators Award in Nigeria (INSEA) and also Africa’s pioneer Ambassador for the American software company, ClassDojo.
His unconventional method of teaching and profound love for his community has earned him three publication in international articles published in the United States and he was invited to speak at the 2018 Association of International Schools in Africa Conference (AISA), as the only Nigerian speaker representing Corona Schools’Trust Council.
